Each year ENCWLOA officials must complete several activities to be in good standing with the ENCWLOA Board and to be eligible to officiate games. ​

Annual Requirements Checklist

Annually, each official must complete the following activities in accordance with the ENCWLOA's Adopted Policies & Procedures:
  • In August/September: Renew membership with US Lacrosse - Link
  • In August/September: Pay ENCWLOA Board Annual Dues - Pay using PayPal:  paypal.me/encwloa  and in the "Notes" for the payment, please provide your name and indicate that you are paying "ENCWLOA   [include the appropriate year] Board Annual Dues"  
  • In November/December: Update registration with the NCHSAA - Registration Link
  • In November/December: Review most recent rating letter. If rating will expire in the upcoming calendar year, notify the Local Board Chair of the upcoming rating expiration and request a re-rate opportunity be scheduled. 
  • In January: Attend Mandatory Annual Meeting & Rules Interpretation - See ENCWLOA Events Calendar
  • In January/February: Take and pass the NFHS/USL high school girls lacrosse rules test and/or USL Youth rules test (depending on the level of officiating you will do during the season). Test must be taken with a passing score prior to the start of the season.
    • Submit your test results directly to NCHSAA.
  • Take National Federation of High Schools Concussion Course  (required every other year by NCHSAA) - Course Link
    • Use this Form to notify Local Board Chair that you have completed the concussion course
  • In January/February: Earn NCHSAA scrimmage points - work two pre-season scrimmages (for no game fee - NCHSAA requirement)
    • Coordinate with the ENCWLOA Assignors to make sure scrimmage points are earned and this requirement is completed.
  • Attend an in-season meet-up that is scheduled in your area - See ENCWLOA Events Calendar
  • Earn ENCWLOA Service Credits (more information on this page) and report your service efforts to Local Board Chair
    • Use this Form to submit Service Efforts to Local Board Chair for review
  • End of the Season: Pay assigning fee to your Assignor

ENCWLOA Service

Get Involved!
To be in good standing, annually ENCWLOA officials are required to complete six (6) hours of service to the ENCWLOA Board. A few examples of activities that earn service credits (hours) are:
  • Become a USL Certified Trainer - LINK
  • Help ENCWLOA conduct new officials training
  • Participate in the Mentor Program
  • Work a playday for no game fee
  • Conduct a rules interpretation for a local team (at the request of the program or school)
  • Donate one (1) game fee to the ENCWLOA Scholarship Fund
  • Watch an in-season game and give newer officials feedback
  • Donate gently used uniforms to new officials to help offset the costs of becoming a new official
  • Plan an in-season meet-up for officials in your area to get together to discuss game scenarios (a collegiate-rated official must attend the meet-up to assist with rule clarifications)
  • Assist the ENCWLOA Board with various administrative responsibilities such as:
    • website maintenance (i.e. checking links and reporting any broken or outdated links)
    • take and share photos for website
    • create a new, unique, and helpful resource
    • make a suggestion for website content or updates
    • share rules clarifications from other Boards/Chapters
  • Recruit new people to become a girls/women's lacrosse official
  • Assist with rating and/or re-rating ENCWLOA officials
  • Suggest another creative way to earn service! We are always open to new and creative service activities.
